Club Manager – The Alwoodley Golf Club

The Alwoodley Golf Club is seeking a Club Manager who will be responsible for overseeing the Club’s operations, delivering an excellent service, and upholding the Club’s reputation.

Alwoodley is a private members’ club, founded in 1907. On the outskirts of Leeds, the heathland layout is regarded as one of Britain’s finest inland courses. It was the creation of the great Dr Alister MacKenzie, the famed architect who designed masterpieces including Augusta National, Cypress Point and Royal Melbourne. Alwoodley was his first.

Reporting to the Chairman, the Club Manager will ensure the efficient management and leadership of the Club and effective communication with members, staff and stakeholders. The successful individual will continue to drive initiatives to improve the club’s overall offering to its members and guests.

The Role:

This role requires an assured and visible leader who can manage and inspire a multidisciplinary team, navigate relationships with members, guests, and external partners, and oversee a range of service improvement initiatives and capital investment projects. It requires at least five years experience in a senior or general management role, a strong understanding of high-end service delivery, financial acumen, resource and project management skills, with the capability to execute strategies.

This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding candidate with a proven track record of leadership, success, and exceptional operational management experience within a similar environment, to build on a high-profile and respected brand with a highly capable team.  The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate an outstanding ability to communicate and relate to people of all backgrounds, with a real appreciation of golf and its traditions within the ethos of a private members’ club.  They should be able to demonstrate strong commercial acumen with experience of growing revenue streams whilst controlling costs backed up by a sound understanding of finance and budgeting.
