LET launches new career planning service for members

The Ladies European Tour has joined forces with global golf recruitment company Colt Mackenzie McNair to develop a career planning service for its Membership. This new service will give the LET’s players access to expert advice and guidance from a company that specialises in career opportunities in the golf industry.

This new initiative should be of interest to golf clubs and facilities that may have, or be thinking about creating, roles that would be suitable for an LET player looking to establish a dual career. The scheme is an innovative way to bring more females into the golf industry and could benefit many clubs out there looking for either full or part time staff, alongside the prestige and excitement that a professional golfer could bring to a golf club.

According to Mike Round, the LET’s Director of Development and Membership: “Of course we want our members to have long and successful playing careers, but we also want to help them to plan for their long-term futures. For some players, a dual career might be attractive or even necessary, and many players will be interested in developing a second career when their playing days come to an end. Having access to high quality advice will not only help them to plan and prepare, but will also highlight what they will need to do now in order to be able to achieve their long-term career objectives.”

Adam Keable, Brand Manager for Colt Mackenzie McNair said: “A survey of the LET members indicated that players have long-term interests in a number of areas such as coaching, broadcasting, administration, event management or marketing. Whatever their aspirations, Colt Mackenzie McNair can offer assistance and can help to forge a career in the golf industry.”

Once registered with the service, the LET’s members will have access to a careers advisor and will receive regular updates about employment opportunities. To launch the service a CV and interview guide has been produced which is available to all LET players via the Members Area of the website.

This planning service is part of a wider Career Development Programme that is being developed by the LET for the benefit of its members. Eventually, the full programme will include more information about opportunities to gain formal qualifications and additional support in areas such as integrity, fitness and well-being.
