The feedback provided by you in the GCMA Member Survey 2022 gave us a roadmap to deliver a better Association — here’s what we did next.
The GCMA Member Survey conducted in 2022 identified the top priorities for the Association and we not only listened, but also acted.
Below is a list of the key priorities and actions taken by the GCMA since establishing the findings of that survey.
Improve the provision of day-to-day technical and operational support services
- Updated the GCMA information library with new content, improved functionality and appearance, as well as signposting to GCMA partners, learning and development opportunities and industry experts
- Introduced a new financial helpline with partners Tee to Green Accountancy to support members with a variety of financial queries
- Launching in August: A new partnership with NGCAA to provide free legal advice to GCMA members
- Launched personal use support services, legal expenses cover and wrap-around care
- Launched Mental Health First Aid initiative to widen the GCMA’s commitment to supporting personal wellbeing
Grow the GCMA profile and recognition for golf club managers within the industry
- Introduction of GCMA Insights, the free industry-wide newsletter, to reach a broader audience and communicate the issues that matter to Golf Club Managers
- Organically grown our LinkedIn following to over 11,000 followers
- Representing the Association at key industry events and the GB&I Forum to ensure the voices of Golf Club Managers are considered in relation to key issues faced by the entire industry
- Launched GCMA Accreditation to demonstrate the value and contribution of GC managers to the industry
- Showcasing the GCMA and its members via our channels such as GCMA Insights, Golf Club Talk UK Podcast and GCMA social media channels
- Invited by England Golf to collaborate on the production of the new Golf Club Governance Guide and series of corresponding workshops across the country
Improve the visibility and connectivity of the board and HQ team within the wider membership
- Introduced Meet the Director and Meet the Team features across various GCMA channels
- HQ attendance at regional meetings
- Board involvement at Conference, including Q&A session, and engagement with GCMA Member Awards
Develop and improve educational and professional development content at regional meetings
- Worked with Regional Managers to produce a Regional Meeting Content Menu based on survey findings, encouraging Regional Managers to work from this to create meaningful and high-quality content at regional meetings
- Worked with partners to ensure they bring education content to the Association, and ensure they do not deliver sales pitches at meetings
- Encouraged more peer-led opportunities at regional meetings
Support members in their career progression and aspirations
- Launched GCMA Accreditation, designed to capture the skills, knowledge, experience and value to the industry of Golf Club Managers
- Soon to launch the Advanced Management Programme, developed and created in association with specialist training providers and industry experts, to be delivered exclusively to the golf industry for the GCMA
- The 2023 GCMA Conference, centred on the theme of team culture, proved to be the best yet, with an outstanding line-up of speakers and an abundance of peer-to-peer learning and networking opportunities
- Worked with England Golf and BIGGA to deliver Governance Roadshow education events on the importance of a positive culture and a structured approach to strategic governance, presented to over 400 attendees representing over 250 Golf Clubs
Develop and improve the GCMA Partner Network
- Increased the Partner Network to over 30 businesses covering a wide variety of services and products
- Notable additions include Tee to Green Accountancy and The R&A Sustainable Agronomy
- A simplified partnership structure – Premium Business Partners and Business Partners
- Improved partner content via digital channels to be current and of benefit to GCMA members
- Improved partner content at regional meetings to be educational
- Continue to fill knowledge gaps in the partner network
- Currently onboarding four new partners
