The GCMA has appointed Gareth Morgan as the new Professional Development Manager.
I am delighted to announce that following an extensive and in-depth recruitment process, Gareth Morgan has been appointed as our new Professional Development Manager.
Gareth will join our team at HQ on 27th August and brings with him a wealth of experience in Golf Club Management, as well as a passion and understanding for professional development, having taken part as both a delegate and facilitator in numerous industry education programmes. Gareth has also been a long-term member and supporter of the GCMA, as a Regional Committee member, Regional Captain and most recently, Board Director and Chairperson.
“Ever since my long-term industry friend, Colin Duffield, invited me along to my first GCMA meeting back in 2007 I have been a huge supporter of the Association, but it has also been incredibly good to me both professionally and personally over the last 17 years,” said Gareth. “I have tried to give back as much as I can in recent years, but I could never give as much as it has brought to my career and my life.
“Education in the industry has become a real passion of mine in recent years both as a delegate and as a provider, so I am thrilled to be moving into this role alongside what is now a talented and passionate team of staff who already work so well together for the Association.
“I look forward to continuing to engage with as many members as possible and now more formally mapping out their training and educational needs for their futures.”
This appointment comes at a particularly exciting and busy time for the Association, as we prepare to launch our new Advanced Management Programme in September. Gareth will take responsibility for managing our new programme, as well as our existing professional development services including the Principles of Golf Club Management course and supporting members with career progression through the GCMA Accreditation programme. We’re also keen to continue developing the quality of professional development experiences at regional meetings and working closely with Regional Managers to deliver this for our members.
Gareth stepped away from the Board for the duration of the recruitment process and now resigns from the Board with immediate effect as he becomes an employee of the Association. The Board will be meeting later this week to discuss the appointment of a new Chairperson and as soon as this has been confirmed, we will make a further announcement.
I am really looking forward to welcoming Gareth to our team at HQ and I am sure you will join me in congratulating him on his new role.
