Press Release
The Golf Club Managers Association has officially become the Golf Club Management Association following approval by members at the 2026 Annual General Meeting (30th April), at Conwy Golf Club.
The successful vote marks an important milestone in the Association’s history and reflects the continued evolution of the golf industry and the profession it represents.
The change from “Managers” to “Management” has been introduced to better reflect the broader and increasingly diverse structure of modern golf club leadership teams, while positioning the Association for future growth and professional development across the sector.
Originally founded in 1933, the Association has continually evolved alongside the profession. In 2007, the organisation transitioned from the Association of Golf Club Secretaries to the Golf Club Managers Association in recognition of changing responsibilities within golf club leadership. This latest change represents the next stage in that progression.
The Association believes the new identity more accurately represents the wider discipline of golf club management, encompassing professionals across leadership, operations and departmental management roles throughout the industry.
Importantly, the Association has reaffirmed that its commitment to supporting Club Managers, General Managers and senior golf club leaders remains unchanged. Existing membership structures, professional development opportunities, accreditation pathways and member services will all continue as before.
CEO Tom Brooke said:
“This is an important and progressive moment for the Association. The profession has evolved significantly in recent years, and this change ensures our identity reflects the modern landscape of golf club management.
“The Association remains fully committed to supporting today’s club leaders while helping develop the next generation of professionals entering the industry. We believe this evolution strengthens our position as the professional home for golf club management.”
The Association would like to thank members for their engagement, feedback and support throughout the consultation and voting process.
A phased rollout of the new identity across branding, communications and member materials will now begin over the coming months.
