Mental health and resilience centre stage in latest AMP Certificate

The mental wellbeing of our members is of the utmost importance to us as an Association.

The Advanced Management Certificate in Building Resilience & Managing Mental Health provided delegates with a thought-provoking and interactive experience in Cardiff.

The session on the opening day began with participants reflecting on influential leaders from their own lives, identifying the qualities that define effective leadership.

These insights laid the foundation for discussions throughout the day, particularly in exploring how Golf Club Managers can cultivate accessibility within their teams and navigate generational differences in attitudes toward mental health conversations.

Delegates remained highly engaged, drawing on personal experiences to evaluate how they have previously addressed mental health challenges.

With guidance from expert trainers Debbie Kleiner and Charlotte Wiseman, they explored practical techniques and frameworks to enhance their approach to mental health management going forward.

“An amazing couple of days with excellent presenters and content that really made me think!”

Adam Bodimeade, General Manager at Hartley Wintney Golf Club

The day concluded with a more informal evening gathering, providing an opportunity to continue the exchange of ideas and best practices in a relaxed setting over dinner.

Day two saw delegates writing their own personal action plans ready for returning to their clubs, utilising all that they had learned and discussed.

The delegates also took dived into the subjects of psychological safety, resilience building and a fascinating debate on the whether you should you ‘bring your whole self to work’.

This was a learning experience where those present had to look inward at themselves, where they are strong and what they could do even better in the future.

In doing so, each individual will now be in a better position to manage themselves, their own wellbeing and resilience levels, but also to create even greater opportunities for their teams to feel safe to offer ideas, fail gloriously, share challenges and thrive in the long term.

“I had a great couple of days with Managers that were willing to challenge themselves to be better Managers. Thanks for inviting us.”

Debbie Kleiner, Training Provider
