National Golf Month

The GCMA is pleased to support National Golf Month, a fantastic UK-wide initiative that returns in May, giving clubs the opportunity to market their activities to a wide audience of new and lapsed golfers.

A joint venture between the British Golf Industry Association (BGIA) and Bauer Media, National Golf Month aims to remove the barriers to participation, bring back lapsed golfers, engage more lady golfers, and generally welcome families to their local club. National Golf Month’s objective is clear: make golf accessible to everyone!

Championed by Paul McGinley, the inspirational winning captain of the European Team for the 2014 Ryder Cup, National Golf Month creates a unique opportunity to breakdown the barriers and stigmas often associated with golf. Throughout the month of May golf clubs and professionals throughout the UK will be hosting special National Golf Month club open days, free taster sessions, coaching sessions for families, ladies and men, as well as individual lessons.

How does my club get involved?

Getting involved is simple. Hundreds of events have already been organised by golf clubs, and added to the National Golf Month website. It is free to be part of the initiative, and golf clubs are encouraged to organise events to help grow the game of golf, and to benefit the club.

Adding events to the website is an easy process, and they will then be displayed on the national map for people to discover.

Paul McGinley, Europe’s victorious 2015 Ryder Cup Captain:

I am delighted to be supporting National Golf Month, May 2015. Golf faces many challenges in these times as competition with other sport and social activities intensifies. Golf is a game that has given me, and my family, great pleasure, health benefits and opportunities to meet some amazing people. I would encourage everybody to get behind this project as we endeavour to see more people enjoy the great benefits and fun that this game has to offer.

Doug Poole, Project Director and BGIA Past Chairman:

We are excited to have the whole industry working together in an effort to make National Golf Month a success. National Golf Month represents golf’s governing bodies, the industry brands, golf clubs and PGA professionals working together to open the doors to golf. My hope is that we see people will go down to their local clubs and have fun enjoying all the lifestyle benefits golf brings.

Patrick Horton, Managing Director Sport, Bauer Media:

Bauer Media is delighted to be extending its relationship with National Golf Month and we are very much looking forward to helping in opening the doors to golf. This is a call to everyone that has ever had an interest, or those that have simply never had the time, to give golf a go!

You can keep up with National Golf Month via its website, Facebook and Twitter.
