Newly Accredited Manager Spotlight: Claire Docker

As part of a series of Q&As with the latest cohort of newly Accredited Managers, we put Robin Hood Golf Club’s General Manager Claire Docker in the spotlight.

Can you provide an outline of your career to date?

I am relatively new to the golf industry. I started at my club as an Office Assistant in 2021, moved to Assistant Manager in 2022 and have just been appointed General Manager.

Why did you decide to go through the Accreditation process?

I had already completed the Principles in Golf Club Management Course with the GCMA and the Accreditation was the next step.

How would you describe the process?

I received crucial help and advice from the GCMA and the process was detailed but straightforward.

What do you hope Accredited status will mean for your career?

I strive to gain as much knowledge of the golf industry as possible so I can contribute to all aspects of club life.

What would your advice be to anyone considering applying?

I would encourage anyone to apply and become a member of the programme, enhancing your knowledge and training can only make the industry better for everyone.

The Advanced Management Programme is launching in September — does that provide a next aspirational goal for you?

Absolutely, I aim to continue my journey with the GCMA and see this as just the beginning.
