Newly Accredited Manager Spotlight: Richard Beech

In the first of a series of Q&As with the latest cohort of newly Accredited Managers, we put Newcastle-under-Lyme’s General Manager Richard Beech in the spotlight.

Can you provide a brief outline of your career to date?

I was a PGA Professional for 17 years working at Great Barr GC and Lilleshall Hall GC. I made the move into club management in 2016 at Lilleshall Hall and then moved to my current role at Newcastle in January 2020.

Why did you decide to go through the Accreditation process?

The certification from the GCMA adds recognition to my experience and skills. The backing of the organisation adds authority to my recommendations and suggestions to our Board of Directors.

How would you describe the process?

I found the whole process very straightforward and easy to follow.

What do you hope Accredited status will mean for your career?

I hope the status will offer confidence to my current and any future employers.

What would your advice be to anyone considering applying?

I would highly recommend taking the time to complete the application.

The Advanced Management Programme is launching in September — does that provide a next aspirational goal for you?

I am looking forward to viewing this new format for CPD. Hopefully it will be a great opportunity for continued development and offer another opportunity to bolster the CV.
