The scores are in as our Advanced Management Programme is proving to be a resounding success

Delegate satisfaction scores show the first six months of our flagship education initiative have been a tremendous success.

Our Advanced Management Programme launched six months ago and the feedback to the courses delivered so far has been overwhelmingly positive, with satisfaction scores between 95-98%.

The first four certificates have provided delegates with industry-leading education on the key topics of Health and Safety, Marketing Strategy, Golf Club Governance, and Food and Beverage.

Each has offered those in attendance the opportunity to pursue their professional development goals, while gaining valuable insights into how to perform their roles to an even higher standard.

The courses combine academic learning with practical skills, enabling delegates to return to their clubs with solutions ready to be implemented.

They also underline the importance of networking and peer-to-peer support, with each course’s success founded on a vibrant engagement between our trusted training partners and each of the delegates.

“We’re very pleased with progress so far,” said GCMA CEO Tom Brooke. “The focus on topic-specific deep-dive learning experiences and really practical hands-on learning has been evident.

“The feedback from delegates has been consistently excellent and we’re proud to see the difference the programme is making to individuals, and by extension the industry as a whole.

“In all of our CPD initiatives, the aim is to provide opportunities for our members to pursue their ambitions and raise the standards in golf club management.

“The first six months show very clearly that our Advanced Management Programme is delivering on both fronts. We thank our members for their engagement and support and long may it continue.”

Professional Development Manager Gareth Morgan noted the exceptionally high satisfaction scores with delegates frequently noting the courses have exceeded expectations.

He praised the delegates for the way they have engaged with the courses and indeed each other, with the learning continuing outside of the classroom environment.

“I think the key when you’re there on these courses is to commit to them fully, and the first four groups we’ve had have absolutely done that,” he said.

“The best buzz I get is from seeing that engagement and learning continuing outside of the classroom, and the extra value that adds to the whole experience. It’s brilliant to see.

“We encourage our members to sign up for the courses still to come this year and beyond.”

Participants like Claire Docker, General Manager at Robin Hood Golf Club, have found immediate value. After completing the Health and Safety certificate, she implemented team-wide engagement strategies.

“It was really good to do the course, brush up on my own knowledge, learn new things, and come back and be enthused about it,” she said.

“I only had a basic knowledge of health and safety coming into it and I wanted to make sure we’re doing everything right and everything we should be doing. This course helped me do just that.”

Roger Hyder, General Manager at Canterbury Golf Club, praised the Marketing Strategy course, describing it as a “godsend” that opened his eyes to new approaches.

“I’ve been on countless training courses over 35 years, but I got such a lot from the two days on this one. I can’t speak highly enough of [Course Leaders] David and Nicole Wheatley,” he said.

“I specifically went for the Marketing Strategy certificate because I’ve got some real issues in a couple of departments where my revenues have actually dipped. I said, ‘Look, if I can learn just 10% something new, it’d be terrific’, and my expectations were by far exceeded.”

Both Claire and Roger expressed an interest in attending further courses and encouraged fellow GCMA members to do the same.

The next certificate is Building Resilience and Managing Mental Health on April 8th and 9th.
