Llanishen Golf Club hosted the first Welsh Mini Conference and it proved to be a huge hit with attendees.
The first Welsh Mini Conference left those in attendance wanting more as Llanishen Golf Club played host to “a high-quality day of learning and networking”.
Around 80 people attended as keynote speakers Kevin Fish, Paul Woodham and Carolyne Wahlen addressed the pressures facing golf clubs, from the financial to the agronomic, and HR to staffing.
It was an interactive day of education and peer-to-peer knowledge sharing, with a mix of club managers, course managers, committee and board members offering their views and ideas.
GCMA Partners Fairway Credit, Golf Genius and Energy Direct Group were on hand to support the event and network with attendees.
Gareth Morgan, Professional Development Manager at the GCMA, was among those present and he was delighted with how proceedings went.
“I would like to congratulate the Wales Region Committee for organising and running such a high-quality day or learning and networking,” he said.
“The content of what was delivered by the speakers throughout the day was outstanding, illustrating their expertise and their ability to share it with their audience and to see so much interaction between the various clubs represented in the room throughout the day was really inspirational, and our hosts – Llanishen Golf Club – excelled themselves.
“It was testament to the success of the day that several delegates hadn’t even left the training room before asking when the next one would be held!”
GCMA Partnerships Manager Darren Wood confirmed the feedback from delegates was indeed glowing.
“I’ve read through the feedback submitted by those in attendance and it’s amazing to read so many positive comments about the topics, presenters and format,” he said.
“It was an overwhelmingly positive day and 2025 will see us continuing to host events that are of real value to all our members all across England and Wales, including our National Conference this time next year.”
