The Clere GolfHub is a key tool at the disposal of the team at The Belfry.
The Belfry is using the Clere GolfHub “to make key decisions” as the venue continues to deliver a world-class experience.
Chris Reeve, Director of Golf & Leisure at the renowned facility, explained how he and his team utilise the GolfHub to execute a variety of tasks.
“The GolfHub has helped us make a few really key decisions,” he said. “It’s really about when we’re trying to make changes, especially when we’re working with tour golfers and golf course designers, collaborating together, and we can physically draw on the Hub where we want tees, create the yardages, work out whether it’s a great position or not. It’s the precision element of the hub that really helps us out.
“We use the course compare feature, which helps us literally compare what we’ve done, how it looked in the past, making sure that we’re not doing anything by mistake, like shrinking fairways or greens. It’s a very helpful feature.”
It’s a tool that is helping to keep the whole team up to speed with developments on the course, with an abundance of data captured and presented in ways that are easy to grasp.
Chris added: “It’s great to be able to show to the wider team what we’ve done, what it looks like, and then we can show that comparison for future works. For example, you want to change a bunker on the 16th hole — this is what one previous looked like, and this is what we ended up with, and it will be a similar theme.
“It’s very helpful to try and help us get projects over the line, especially when we’re looking for investment from the club.
“It just makes my life a lot easier when it comes to key questions, meetings with the tour, whatever information you’re looking for. If you’re working with golf course designers about upgrades, you can just go to one place and we can share information with them — it’s all there.
“It’s very easy to use. It’s a very good system, and it’s very helpful that it’s all in one place.”
About the Clere GolfHub
With an astounding array of practical applications, the Clere GolfHub is changing course management practices at facilities of all sizes.
Nothing is more important when it comes to making decisions than having access to good data, so imagine the value of having every detail of your golf course mapped, modelled and easily accessible even via your mobile phone.
That is the power the Clere GolfHub places in the hands of golf clubs, affording an unparalleled degree of precision and efficiency to give facilities a previously unattainable level of insight into their course, while ridding them of the burden of having to manage multiple, disparate stores of information that are prone to loss or damage.
The Clere team measure, scan and photograph your course to create a fully interactive aerial survey accurate to sub-10 centimetres. The GolfHub enables all course-related data to be stored, shared, edited and reviewed spatially in a single location from anywhere in the world.
Angus McLeod, Director of Golf Courses & Estates, underlined how important the GolfHub has been in reinforcing the club’s efforts around the vital issue of health and safety.
“The health and safety side is obviously very important for us at The Belfry,” he said. “It’s something that we are really strong on and proud of as a department.
“Our KPIs for health and safety are really strong, and this is an additional tool that helps me to assess where we are, assess the contours and any changes to the golf courses.
“We’ve got three golf courses here, and we’ve got a resort; we’re working in amongst probably one the busiest golf clubs in Europe, so having my team knowing the safe zones, knowing where the play is, and how they manage themselves around the site is a really, really important tool for us.”
